A six-floor student accommodation complex in Newcastle, is given a stylish touch with the help of luxury vinyl flooring specialist, Moduleo.

A six-floor student accommodation complex, situated opposite St James’ Park in Newcastle, has provided a Scandinavian escape in the city centre thanks to luxury vinyl flooring specialist, Moduleo. More than 1,800 sqm was installed across 14 one- to five-bedroom studio apartments and cluster flats to provide a stylish and hard-wearing floor covering for the Let’s Live Here St James’ View scheme. Dubbed as ‘a place where you get more living from your living space’, the rooms offer high-tech kitchens, en-suite shower rooms and space to study, socialise and entertain. Installed by Gateshead-based Monument Flooring and specified by Neil Wilson Design, the project utilised Transform. Neil Wilson, owner of Neil Wilson Design, said: “’Sophisticated Scandi’ was the look I was going for, so I needed a floor covering that would complement the grey and feature colours, without causing a distraction and also offer texture without too many ridges. “The flooring needed to add to the soft, contemporary, warm feel, so aesthetics were important but, it also needed to withstand heavy footfall on a daily basis and fit within budget constraints. Moduleo’s Transform products fit the bill perfectly. Moduleo Transform was installed over a four-month period, with Monument Flooring working alongside other trades to get the job done in time for the September 2017 intake. Trevor Duggan from Monument flooring added: “We’ve used Moduleo a lot for commercial schemes, but this is the first time we’ve worked with the materials on a large-scale student accommodation project. “The great thing about the St James’ View scheme is that every room is bespoke, so we were able to utilise different laying patterns, something which is so much easier when using well-engineered products, as they’re quicker to install versus other materials that have to be retrofitted on site. “It’s not often you get a floor covering of such quality at a decent price point and the finished product looks fantastic. The rooms look very sophisticated – more like a hotel than student accommodation, so we’re really proud to have worked on the project.” Neil Wilson concluded: “My brief was to deliver a high-end look and I think the Moduleo flooring was the icing on the cake in this respect. “All of the interior elements complement each other nicely and the client is really happy, so you can’t ask for much more than that!” Moduleo, which celebrates its fifth anniversary in the UK in 2017, is manufactured in Belgium by the world’s leading manufacturer of vinyl flooring, IVC Group. Best4flooring is the official e-commerce partner and the only flooring retailer authorised to sell Moduleo flooring online.
