Kitchen Lino Flooring

Kitchens are busy, messy places, and kitchen lino flooring is built for exactly that. Cushioned lino has a little bounce underfoot, so it's comfortable to stand on while you cook and more forgiving if you drop a glass or plate. Spills wipe straight off the protective top layer, and because lino is laid as a single sheet, there are few or no joints for crumbs and water to collect in.

Bathroom Lino Flooring

Water resistance is the number one thing to look for in a bathroom floor, and bathroom lino delivers on that, every time. As it is a roll, it leaves no gaps for water to seep through, while a slip resistant surface adds peace of mind when floors get wet. It's also far warmer underfoot than ceramic tiles, which makes a real difference on those cold mornings.

From calming greys and soft stone effects to statement black and white patterns, our bathroom lino suits everything from family bathrooms to ensuites and cloakrooms.

"Lino has come a long way. Today's cushioned sheet vinyl is warmer, softer and far more realistic than the lino many people remember, and for kitchens and bathrooms it's still one of the best value floors you can buy."

Lino Flooring FAQs

Is lino the same as vinyl flooring?

These days, the two terms usually mean the same thing. Traditional linoleum was made from natural materials like linseed oil and needed sealing. What most people call lino today is cushioned sheet vinyl - made from PVC, naturally water resistant, and available in far more designs.

Is lino waterproof?

Lino is highly water resistant, which is why it's so popular in kitchens and bathrooms. Spills and splashes sit on the surface and simply wipe away. For the best protection, lay it in one piece where possible and seal the edges around baths, showers and sinks.

What sizes do lino flooring rolls come in?

Our lino rolls typically come in 2m, 3m and 4m widths and are cut to the length you need. Choose a width that covers your room in a single piece if you can, as it looks neater and keeps water out. When measuring, take the longest and widest points of the room and add around 10cm to each for trimming.

Do you need underlay for lino?

Most cushioned lino has a foam backing built in, so it doesn't need a separate underlay. What it does need is a smooth, clean, dry subfloor, as any bumps or gaps can show through over time. On uneven floorboards, a layer of hardboard or plywood gives the best finish.

Can I lay lino flooring myself?

Yes. Lino is one of the easiest floors to fit yourself. Let the roll settle in the room for 24 hours, lay it out with the excess running up the walls, then trim carefully to fit.

Is lino flooring suitable for underfloor heating?

Many of our lino ranges are suitable for underfloor heating, as the thin sheet lets heat pass through quickly. Always check the product specification and the maximum floor temperature before buying.

Is lino cheaper than LVT?

Yes. Lino is usually the lowest cost option if you are shopping on a budget, both to buy and to fit. Cheap lino flooring doesn't have to look cheap, though - modern printing makes wood and tile effects remarkably realistic. If you need a thicker, more hard-wearing floor, take a look at our LVT flooring.
