What Type of Flooring is Malmo Freedom?

Malmo Freedom is a high-quality, hard-wearing vinyl flooring range that includes a variety of tile types: straight wooden planks, herringbone planks, and stone tiles. It is a glue-down LVT constructed with multiple distinctive layers: a P.V.C. base layer for stability, followed by a high-definition decor layer. Next, a wear layer and various surface treatments create a durable barrier against daily wear.

With stunning looks and incredible performance, Malmo is the perfect flooring for domestic or commercial applications. For more in-depth specifications, please review the Technical Data Sheet.

How do you install Malmo Glue Down LVT?

The first step in installing glue-down vinyl plank flooring is ensuring the subfloor is suitable. Preparing the subfloor correctly is crucial for a successful installation. It must be clean, dry, and level to ensure a strong bond between the tiles and the subfloor. Any existing flooring must be removed, and any damage to the subfloor must be repaired.

Once the subfloor is ready, you can lay down the tiles or planks in your chosen design. Once you are happy with the placement, spread a thin layer of adhesive evenly onto the subfloor using a trowel. Aim to apply adhesive to cover just two tiles or planks at a time. Place the flooring onto the adhesive and press it firmly into place, then use a roller to ensure a strong bond between the tiles and the subfloor. Any excess adhesive should be wiped away before it dries.

Where can Malmo Freedom be Installed?

Versatility is key with Malmo, as it can be installed anywhere in your home. It is also suitable for many commercial applications. With its water-resistant slip and slip-proof surface, it is perfect for areas where splashes and spills are part of everyday life. Its aluminium oxide coating and 0.55mm wear layer shield it against scratches and stains, making it suitable for high-traffic areas like hallways and living rooms.

For stylish and modern bathroom or kitchen vinyl flooring, why not consider Kuvio Grey? For a cosy traditional living room, Narvik is a perfect choice.

How long does Malmo Freedom Last?

With a 25-year domestic and 10-year commercial warranty, it's clear that Malmo is built to last. But we have a few suggestions to help you get the most out of your new flooring.

Firstly, acclimation is crucial to get you off on the right foot. Acclimation allows the material to adjust to its intended environment's temperature and humidity conditions. This process helps prevent warping, buckling, or gapping after installation.

Does Malmo Freedom Need Underlay?

Malmo Freedom flooring should not be installed with underlay. The exceptional stability of glue-down LVT comes from its direct adherence to the subfloor. Therefore, underlay could compromise its stability and affect its overall performance and appearance. Instead, it should be laid on a flat, clean, and dry subfloor which has been adequately prepared before installation to ensure optimal results.
